Our Beginning

In 1998, Dr. Lynda Doty published her book, “Help Me Heal” to address issues of adultery, addictions, abortion, anger, depression, suicide, unforgiveness, and other life challenges. Her writing came not only from an educational background in counseling, but also from personal experience in many of these areas. The book met a need among men and women of all ages and soon became a best seller. It has been reprinted several times.

In 2008, Dr. Doty developed an idea during times of prayer to create an organization based on the “Help Me Heal” book. Using the approach to healing presented in the book, she developed a format to take this teaching to churches in the form of a 3-day conference. She recruited a team of ladies and ministers to help her conduct these 3-day meetings. Advertising was done to acquaint churches with the new organization and solicit churches to host a conference.

Registration was charged for all attendees to the conference.

The  Conference Format

  • Thursday night General Session
  • Friday morning break-out sessions (6 – 1-hr classes during a 3 ½ hour time frame)
  • Lunch for all attendees
  • Friday night General Session
  • Two General Sessions on Saturday.

The Thursday night session begins with prayer and worship. The ministry focuses on repentance, for no healing can take place without taking this initial step.

Friday morning break-out classes deal with 6 issues chosen by the host church to minister to the specific needs of that local area. The instructors for the break-out sessions are experienced in the areas they teach. The attendees in these sessions are given Biblically-based tools to help them take the necessary steps toward achieving healing or helping others to heal.

The Friday luncheon is provided by the host church for all registered attendees.

Friday afternoons are unscheduled to provide times of relaxing interaction among those in attendance.

The Friday night session focuses on taking the step of forgiveness for hurts in our life. This session adds another layer in the journey toward healing.

The two Saturday sessions begin with a time of prayer and worship. The teaching provides tools to equip the attendees for walking in freedom and victory after healing is received.

At the end of 2019, Dr. Doty felt the need to resign as Director of Help Me Heal due to health issues, and she appointed Pam Eddings as the new Director. Pam has added a team of 2 advisors to assist in guiding future decisions for the ministry and removed the registration fee in favor of accepting donations at each conference. Otherwise, she has kept the same format in place for hosting conferences.
